How do I remove apps icon from my MacBook Air launchpad?

Please how to remove the application icon from the launchpad. I followed all the instructions on support, but the icon of the Signal application or games downloaded from Steam simply cannot be deleted. However, it is not an application required for the functioning of the Mac.

I would be very grateful for an answer, thank you.

When you open the Launchpad, and then, hold down the Option key, does the app(s) you want to remove have an (X) next to them? Those that do are from the Apple App Store.

How exactly did you try removing this app:

  • Via the app's uninstaller, if it included one?
  • Via Finder by dragging & dropping the app in the Trash?
  • Some other means?

Did you also check locations, other than the /Applications folder, like:

  • User Library:
    • ~/Library/Preferences/
    • ~/Library/Application Support/
  • Caches
    • ~/Library/Caches/
  • System-wide locations if this app was installed for all users:
    • /Library/Preferences/
    • /Library/Application Support/
    • /Library/Extensions/

Finally, if you are comfortable with using commands in the Terminal app, you can try this one. In this command, replace *appname* with the name of the app you want removed.

sudo find / -iname "*appname*" 2>/dev/null
