verification code is suppose to be good for 90 days but is not

I sign into a webpage building tool to make edits to a page for a social group I belong to. The phone number that is used for the two stepverification is not mine so the site owner has to text me the code.

THe code I receive is supposed to be good for 90 days but I have to get a new code everytime I log in. THe others that work on the page are all PC users and their codes do indeed remain effective for 90 days.

Is there a setting I need to change on my Mac Book Pro that will allow the verification code I get to remain valid for 90 days?

Is it possible that your browser is not accepting all cookies that the website is offering?

Or possibly purging the cache and/or cookies for that website when you exit?

If you’re using private browsing mode you should consider turning that off.

There is no setting that will prolong the validation time for any code that is provided to you for website access. This sounds like a problem with the site - especially the part about having the wrong phone number for verification.

I suggest that the next time you log into that site you check your site profile or account settings and correct any info that is inaccurate.

I’d expect most verification codes (TOTP) to be good for ninety seconds, and not ninety days.

How long a web site login session might persist varies by the particular web site software, and when and how quickly your browser might purge the cookies, too.

Sort out your access. Set up a test server and provide instructions for updating the production server, get access to your own credentials on the production server, or hand the configuration back to the person holding the keys.

If the website itself is running the latest version of the website software, then you’ll want to have a discussion with the group maintaining either the TOTP security used for the website, or with the folks that are supporting the website content management system.

That might involve changes to the website, or adding a second account, or whatever other option is appropriate for the particular website content management system.

Or re-host this website somewhere with better or more flexible access.

Or get the TOTP switched to your number, or switched over to some other multi-factor implementation such as a security key.

I am not the site owner. I just edit a page on the site.. The phone number on file for the verification code to go to can not be changed and it is correct. Only one phone number can receive the verification code so our group president (its a social group) gets the text that contains the verification code. She then just text the code over to me to enter.

The problem is that even when I check the box on the screen to allow the code to be valid for 90 days, it is only good for that session. Once I log out, I have to get a new code when I log back in. It is a nucance to me and our president.

I think this is a Mac setting issue because there are two other members who also edit pages for the site that use a PC. Their codes are remain valid for 90 days before they have to get a new one.

ANy ideas on what I need to do to allow a verification code to be good for a longer period of time?

Thank you but way over my head. We are talking about a Square (Weebly) website builder account. I just update a page or two on the site. Our account allows for only one phone number to which a requested verfication code can be sent. It goes to our social group president and I cannot change that. When I request a code to login, our president gets the text and just forwards it on to me. It is a nusance for both of us.
