External USB-C Monitor Not Detected After Using AirPlay

Device Information:

• MacBook Air M2 2024

• USB-C Touchscreen Monitor

• TV with AirPlay Support

Issue Description:

My external USB-C monitor is no longer detected by my MacBook, but its touch functionality still works. When I touch the monitor, it’s as if I’m using the cursor on my MacBook’s built-in screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Connected my MacBook to the TV via AirPlay (worked fine).

2. Connected my USB-C monitor (worked fine, had three screens).

3. Disabled screen extension via AirPlay - At that moment, the USB-C monitor lost its display signal, but the touch function remained active.

Troubleshooting Attempts:

• The display is not detected in System Settings, even when using “Option + Detect Displays.”

• Restarting the MacBook did not help.

• Resetting NVRAM did not help.

• Reconnecting the monitor did not help.

• The monitor still works with the same USB-C cable when connected to a Windows laptop or Windows PC.

How can I restore my external monitor’s display functionality on my MacBook?

MacBook Air, macOS 15.3
