Trying to stop sharing Apple ID

My wife and I have shared an Apple ID since the iPhone 4 and Mac since Panther. As of last month Apple has everything jumbled, and last week it dumped 4000 of my photos onto her iPhone. We have tried to split the account, but Apple says her email address in use. I appealed, and days later they "released" it. Still says in use! What do we do now?

Apple id's are not meant to be shared. also, they aren't meant to be merged .The best thing you can do is create a new Apple ID for your wife, and then enter family sharing with the 2 of your accounts

You might need to use a different mail address for her, as you cannot use a mail address that has been associated with an apple account in the past
