can you enlarge a photo befor importing to decide whether to keep it?

I am importing a very long list of photos, even when enlarged to the max via the slider, it is still hard to see enough detail to know which ones to import. Is there a way to individually enlarge a photo to see if it is good enough to keep?

Couple of thoughts:

Deleting from Photos is easy. Why not import them all and the simply send the ones you don't want to the trash? Fast and simple.

Or, you can literally preview the images using Preview to open and view the files before importing. Or Quicklook - just select an image in the Finder and tap the space bar.

Yer_Man's suggestion of doing the "trashing" within Photos. I import pictures from my Nikon into an album in Photos, and then I use a Smart Album and keywords to reject the bad (or less good) ones. Within Photos I can zoom in, of course. But I can also select two and toggle back and forth between them to compare. And I sometimes have to edit and crop the pictures to make a decision.

We can offer more details about doing this if you like…
