Why can't I start the "Ear Tip Fit Test" on AirPods Pro?

I have a new pair of AirPods Pro 2 and I am trying to do the ear tip fit test on my phone. When I try to start the test, and press play, I receive the message "Place AirPods in Both Ears" even though the AirPods are already in my ears. I have tried all the different tips, disconnected and re-paired the AirPods, but always get that same message and am unable to start the test.

Hello Darthbucky,

It sounds like your AirPods are not detecting they are inserted (there is a sensor in them to do just that). Try to reset the AirPods:

Put the AirPods in their case, close the lid, then wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber, then white.

If the issue persists, have them replaced as it may be a hardware issue.
