Whenever someone else that joins a call while I’m using my AirPods, it disconnects from my phone and connects to their even though I changed the connect feature to connect when last paired. We have the same Apple ID and can’t fix the problem
The issue is because you have the same apple account. That causes this behavior. Apple accounts are strictly personal and not meant to be shared, sharing an apple account will always give trouble.
I reccommend that you get your own Apple ID and get into family sharing with the other person you're currently sharing an account with
