my wife and I share an Apple account, and are unavle to have sepsrate names on messages. we are also mot able to have seperate photos.

You have just listed three of the many reasons why you should not share an Apple Account with another person.
To avoid these problems set up a new Apple Account for either yourself or your wife and use them separately, perhaps in a Family Sharing group.
