airpods 1st gen not connecting to iphone 16
my airpods 1st gen aren’t connecting to iphone 16, it says they are not compatible anymore. they are not showing in the bluetooth menu. please help

It appears that AirPods 1 are only compatible with iPhone 14 and below: AirPods 1 - Tech Specs - Apple Support
You may however be able to use them in a limited capacity as a generic bluetooth audio device:
