I’m trying to update my memoji on my ipad. All of the instructions say to go to messages, tap the plus sign and choose memoji from the drop down menu. It’s not there! It’s not on my husband’s iPad either but it is on my phone. All iPads and phone running iOS 18.3.1
Are the instructions out of date/wrong or am I missing a step? Don’t think it’s the latter as I’m able to see and choose the Memoji option from my phone.

Unfortunately an iPad Mini doesn't have the True Depth camera.

Thanks again, I think. I read the article you sent regarding Face ID and am even more confused. Don’t understand what that has to do with creating a Memoji as I first created mine on an older iPhone without Face ID. If the process worked then, why won’t it work now on my iPad mini? I understand that the Face ID technology has advanced to allowing one to create a Memoji from a photo (and perhaps more, not sure) but the process to do so without Face ID presumably still exists in your archives. Why not resurrect and allow it for the non-Face ID devices?
Thanks much. The directions didn’t have those model specifics in them (and should, in my opinion!). So I’m outta luck on my mini. Wonder why?
