What happens if I cancel an expired Apple Music trial without a new payment method?

• Not being able to bill your payment method does not make the charge you had agreed to go away. You do still owe that money and there is not a service that I know of that is any different when offering a free trial. It may no longer renew and keep piling up charges month after month, but the first charge you are responsible for.

• You are in the middle where you have not paid for the subscription. The correct way to proceed would be to add a valid card to pay for the subscription, then it is likely that you will see a different messages when you cancel that says it will no longer renew, not that the service will be stopped. You should contact Apple directly, so they know what your intentions are and how you would like to proceed. Since they have access to your account, they are in a better position to give you your options.

Yes you will be charged. You had agreed to the subscription when you signed up for the free trial if you did not cancel it and the subscription along with the cost appeared on the screen when you had to double click the side button.

You now have the subscription and can cancel it to avoid having it renew again as any subscription will auto-renew. If you continue to not pay for the amount you owe, you will be prevented from making any additional App Store purchases/updates.
