Warning about current model MacBook Air

Hi, This is to warn other users of the current model MacBook Air about this product and our experience with Apple. Three months ago we bought a new Macbook Air M2 with retuna display and one day we opened the lid to find out the picture on the screen was totally disturbed having vertical and horizontal lines appearing on the screen from one spot. The computer was rendered useless. Bringing it to Apple we found out that they are not going to accept a warranty claim blaiming the problem on the user (e.c. us). As we are absolutely sure we did not cause the failure, we would like to warn others that these macbooks are extremely frigile and those who took a risk owning one of them, need to be extremely careful. Now we know why Apple insisted on selling us additionally an AppleCare insurance when we bought our computer. Good luck folks, and try not to open the lid of your Mac too often!

The horizontal grey lines have appeared (out of the blue) thrice on my M2 Air within 2 years. I have 3 years of AppleCare.

It sucks that they replaced parts (see below) - unknown if new or refurbished - without asking if I prefer a refund or replacement, at this point. Cos if I didn’t have AppleCare, there is only a 90-day warranty for these replaced parts…doesn’t give you great confidence.

The M2 Air was returned with replaced Display, Lid angle sensor, Touch ID, Speaker antenna pair, Logic board. If Apple is so certain these parts will be fine and restored my MacBook to “nearly new”, then give me an additional year of free AppleCare (my third year ends March 2026, extend to March 2027!).

The question of new or refurbished parts also matters because my battery capacity in SysInfo was 85% (83% according to Diagnostics that only Apple Advisors have access to). Now - without supposed battery replacement - the maximum capacity is 95% (93% according to Apple Advisors run diagnostics). How is this possible? I don’t have an explanation from Apple Advisor yet.

I have been an Apple owner for 2 decades now. Normally - except frayed chords - it is a stressfree life with Apple. Now Apple is the greatest source of stress; added bonus - speaking to agents in my part of the world - feel gaslit.

Did I mention that there are new scratches and dents from screwdrivers all over? They are microscopic. But I did not put them there. Apple’s engineers did.
