Can I recover my iPhone screen layout from my last backup? If so, how do I do it?

I lost my screen layout that had all my apps in folders. Now the folders are gone and the apps are filling pages. Can a backup from yesterday recover my screen layout?

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 18

Yes, you can recover your iPhone screen layout from a previous backup if you have an iCloud or iTunes (Finder on macOS Catalina and later) backup from before the layout was lost. Restoring from this backup will revert your home screen layout, including app folders, but it will also replace other data on your device with the backup's contents.

  1. Using iCloud Backup

Check for a Backup: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups, and check if a recent backup exists.

Reset Your iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.

Restore from iCloud: Follow the on-screen setup instructions and select Restore from iCloud Backup when prompted. Choose the most recent backup that contains your desired screen layout.

2.Using iTunes/Finder Backup

Connect your iPhone to a computer with iTunes (Windows/macOS Mojave or earlier) or Finder (macOS Catalina or later).

Check for a Backup: In iTunes/Finder, select your device and go to Summary (iTunes) / General (Finder) > Backups to see the latest backup date.

Restore Backup: Click Restore Backup, select the most recent backup, and wait for the process to complete.
