The funds are being returned by the merchant directly to your original payment method used (credit or debit card). Apple is not involved in the refund. Apple is not a bank and does not actually participate in movement of funds.
Depending on when the actual transfer occurs, the credit will appear on your account within 30 days. Again, Apple has no control of the actual transfer.
