How to view password protected files on my iPad

I am about to leave my Mac with a third party to analyse a problem. For peace of mind I password protected my ‘My Documents’ folder. Now when I try to open the same folder on my iPad I get a blank page just confirming that the folder is password protected. I imagined I would simply be able to enter my password to view the files. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
