SD slot on my MBP M4 Max. 2025, reader very iffy

Hi Have only had this new MBP a few weeks (this is my third over the last 15 years). I purchased this Mac because it had the SD card reader slot, sometimes it will recognise my cards and sometimes it won't, most annoying, use an external card reader and no problems, I expected great speeds on this new Mac, but this card slot at the moment is useless, just wondered if anyone else had this problem before I contact Mac, ?

Your story is not isolated....

The SDcard seems finicky at best compare to external card reader.

I have no further insight to the issue or recommendation

Verify your software is up to date…

The current stable release of Sequoia including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 15.3.2 - I would start there.
