iPhone 15 Pro Max Overheating & Battery Drain on iOS 18 & Battery health rapid decrease.

Since updating to iOS 18, my iPhone 15 Pro Max has been experiencing significant overheating issue, it's gotten even worse on iOS 18.3.2. My battery health has dropped by 2% in just four days, and the battery backup has become terrible. I now have to charge my phone twice a day with just normal usage. Currently, my cycle count is at 309, and my battery health is already down to 90% which is horribble in itself. Is anyone else facing the same issue, and are there any fixes?I think its a design flaw or something , because updates aren't fixing it.Should have listened to that "in depth reviews" guy who tested the 15 pro max against s23 ultra,in that heavy workload test the 15 pro max failed terribly , i thought it was an impractical test but now i realise that it wasnt , you cant game on this phone or even shoot videos. Basically you cant use the a17 pro chip for what you bought it for .

I agree with Katana-San. In fact I’d go a step further and request to speak to a store manager and discuss the matter. Tell the manager about your poor customer experience. The manger should take ownership of the situation and make sure things get resolved for you.

They should write up a support ticket and if they can’t resolve escalate the issue. An iPhone should not be overheating and shutting down. Make sure everything is backed up.

Hello~ No apologies necessary. Have you force restarted your iPhone?

So…let’s review a bit…you bought your iPhone in October of 2023 and have a battery percentage of 90%…well that’s pretty good when you stop and think about it. Here’s some information…

Heat is a normal part of modern cell phones with multi core processors and multiple graphics processors. There’s no active cooling, like a fan, so heat has to be dissipated through the exterior.

iPhone incorporates internal mechanisms to reduce screen brightness and if necessary throttle the performance of the processors. But heat is normal when gaming, video and battery charging. Have you measured the temperature of the back of your iPhone? Is it shutting down with a warning?

Thank you Jeff.

Yes, it occasionally shuts down without a warning. No, I haven’t measured the heat temperature of the iPhone when hot. That’s a step too far for me to establish if my iPhone has a manufacturing defect or is otherwise unfit for its purpose.

As I don’t game or watch videos beyond the few clips a friend might send occasionally, the most content I create are emails and text messages and occasionally I listen to music and take photos.

I simply want a phone that performs the same way all my previous iPhones have performed, namely without “burning” my hand or skin when touched; without the battery erratically dropping it’s charge leaving you uncertain if it’s going to last 2 days, 2 hours or 2 minutes after being charged using the Apple products and with the optimised charging on. I haven’t damaged it; dropped it in water or use non Apple third party accessories on it…and yet…
