Keyboard and trackpad freeze every so often - possibly when MacBook Pro (2021 M1 Pro) goes to sleep.

Last night my kids knocked a mug of hot chocolate over my 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro and even though it wasn't bad, and continued to work fine after a cleanup, 24 hours later I've to do a SMC / NVRAM reset at least 5 times.

Every now and then I'll come back to the machine and the keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive. I feel like it must be a software thing as the hard reset fixes the problem... until it happens again.

I have tried to put the computer to sleep manually and wake it up, but the keyboard and trackpad worked fine. It seems happen when its been left untouched for a while.

Any ideas?

PS. also... and this is super odd, my trackpad now "clicks" fairly loudly and it definitely didn't do that before.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.3

Liquids and electronics do not mix. Issues tend to get worse overtime not better...

if this a new issue post liquid spill, there may be a cause and effect...(?)
