Getting Contacts from an old back up

I have a new phone and was trying to let me daughter use my old phone. So I deleted contacts, and it deleted off of my current phone as well. I logged into icloud to try to get my old contacts back, but it says the last back up was yesterday and was after some of my contacts were deleted, but my phone was last backed up a week ago and that back up to the icloud is not visible. How do I find it to get all my contacts back? And how do I deleted contacts off my old phone without disabling it so that my daughter can still use apps on the old phone?

contacts aren't part of the backup, since they are synced to the a mail account or the cloud, if did the latter sign back into icloud and restore from there.
