Can I update my iPhone 8 to iOS 17?

You cannot update an iPhone 8 to iOS 17 or higher - no matter how often you say “please” or say how good an update would be. The iPhone 8 is not compatible with iOS 17 and higher.

If you need to run something later than iOS 16, you will need to purchase a new iPhone.

An iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X isn't capable of 17 or above; they require an A12 or better CPU.

You cannot update an iPhone 8 to iOS 17. For the iPhone 8, which originally ran iOS 11, iOS 16 is the end of the line.
