Hey,
I have an iPhone 13 with 79% battery health. Aside from the fact that battery life has obviously shortened, the phone is somewhat laggy in performance at times, functioning with a slight delay and not as smoothly as it used to.
I wanted to ask if replacing it with a genuine new battery would not only improve battery life but also slightly enhance performance?

Edit…if you are having issues that bother you then replace the battery. All devices that use batteries can have diminished performance as the battery ages. It’s not restricted to Apple devices.

Apple recommends replacing the battery when it is down to 80% Battery Health.
A new battery will be at 100% Battery Health
You will notice a definite improvement in performance with a new battery.
You have posted to a user-to-user site. We are all users here.....just like you.
We can't answer for Apple, but I can say that a new battery will result in definite noticeable improved performance for your iPhone.
If you have not yet seen a message appear on your iPhone that your battery's performance is declining, you will soon. When you choose to replace the battery is up to you.
Here is a screenshot of actual warning Apple provides when health goes below 80%. This an older iPhone XR I keep around for test etc. I’ll replace the battery before it starts to swell and do some real damage.
Notice Apple uses the word performance. I can state the performance is not changed a lot. Please notice the statement under peak performance capability.
What I do notice is time between having to charge is decreasing rapidly. It’s a hassle to keep in low power mode and switch off WiFi and Bluetooth all the time. However, if I leave it plugged in, performance seems normal and no fooling around with settings.
The question is whether Apple's recommendation is aimed at selling more of their products or if it is actually based on facts?
Battery life between charges doesn’t matter to me since I have a charger with me all day, but the performance and small lags on my phone, which didn’t exist not too long ago, really bother me.
Will replacing my iPhone 13 battery improve performance as well? Unsolved
