Can I use TourBox with MacBook Pro M1?

Hey, I am a digital artist and I was recently checking out the TourBox product (it's like a keyboard shortcut device, right?) to help with my drawing workflow on CSP and Photoshop, and I'm curious if it works with my MacBook Pro(m1). TY!

YEAH, I had one for my photo/video editing for my Mac and Win, and it's good so far! Their download page says it works on macOS 10.13 or later. Check this out:

It says macOS 10.13 or higher – but I'd suggest asking the vendor specifically if it will work on Apple Silicon and on newer versions of macOS, including Sequoia.

If this gadget comes with software for Intel-based Macs running High Sierra, there would be several ways in which things could break:

  • If any of the software was 32-bit. That won't run on Catalina and higher.
  • If the device relies on Intel-only kernel extensions. Those will not run on Apple Silicon Macs. Although Rosetta 2 can translate many 64-bit Intel applications, it cannot translate system code like kernel extensions.
  • If the device relies on some extension method that Apple has dumped. Apple's moving away from any form of kernel extension (where code runs with full system privileges) to a more locked-down approach where system extensions must use specific APIs and run at reduced privilege levels.
  • If there is some incompatibility with Sequoia that the vendor has not resolved yet.

If the vendor's software does work on Apple Silicon Macs and on Sequoia, they should be able say that with some reasonable degree of certainty. If they do not understand the questions "Will it work on Apple Silicon Macs?" and "Will it work on Sequoia?", that may be a sign that the answer is "No" (see above).

Verify the Compatibility:

If you have older software, be certain that it is compatible with your newer operating system. Older macOS software that is 32-Bit will not work on Sequoia.

I think it depends on your habit and workflow. People who use creative software and shortcuts heavily all the time love it for sure. And if you are a light user that could be a little pricey for you.

For me personally, I can’t work without TourBox now. I would only come back to the keyboard when i need to type. Everything can be done on TourBox and it really speeds up my workflow 2 or 3 times. Big fan of this gadget!
