LogicPro11 re-install not finding my NI App library, nor reacting to NI S88 Mk3 commands.

I am running a Mac Studio on Sequoia 15.3.2, but I had to re-install Logic Pro11 because somehow it got corrupted and started crashing my MIDI hub. I successfully re-installed Logic Pro, but now Logic cannot find my NI library (both Logic and NI project and sound libraries are hosted on an SSD drive), nor does Logic recognize the command instructions originating from my NI S88 Mk3, it receives MIDI note information from the controller, but nothing else.

Do I need to re-install my whole NI library into Logic again? And then relocate it in the SSD drive?

Mac Studio, macOS 15.3

Hi Eddie,

The sound libraries are hosted on the SSD, they take up about 500GB of space. The actual Logic App and NI Apps do need to be hosted on the Mac to avoid hang-ups, but it's insane to take up so much HD space with sound libraries. So long as your SSD is properly formatted with APFS, it should be extremely fast and efficient through a Thunderbolt connection.

BTW, an Apple Tech specialist helped me resolve the non-recognition problem. Partly it involved re-registering my S88 serial# with NI and reloading the master controller NI software. Partly it involved the Apple Library and trashing the registry preferences, and partly it involved re-formatting my SSD with APFS (allowing it to work more fluidly and faster). Lastly, I also had to reset the Logic system settings to their default values, and activate the 'Enable Complete Features' in the Advanced settings section after reloading Logic Pro11.

Rebooting Logic after that caused Logic Pro11 to re-index the NI S88 settings, including the transport controls, and all the NI apps and sound libraries are recognized. Just in case, I dragged all my NI App icons from their homes in the Shared folder into the Direct HD Disk access, and enabled their permissions to access the HD.

After 48 hours of agony, it is now working beautifully.

The easy part is to "locate" your NI Libraries. This is done in Native Access adn you don't have to re-install the Libraries:

I can't help you with (re-)locating the Logic Libraries. I always install my Logic library on the internal drive to avoid issues.

You should not be running Logic projects on the SSD. It will run way slower than when running on the internal drive.

Please try it, I think you will be shocked.

Regarding your post, I had this happen to me once and I simply reinstalled the preview Library (and the rest of the N.I Library) and everything worked out great.

Hope this helps,

LogicPro11 re-install not finding my NI App library, nor reacting to NI S88 Mk3 commands.
