Can't connect scanner to new 27" iMac

I am not able to connect the scanner function of my HP printer to my new 27" Mac. On my last Mac it was very easy and involved only the Printers & Scanners option under Settings. Using that option I can connect the printer, but not the scanner. Any advice would be appreciated.

That printer, HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-In-One Printer, is AirPrint compatible and doesn't need drivers.

Try resetting the printer system according to this Apple document: Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support

Also make sure it's connected to your LAN.

My apologies. I misunderstood your response. I indeed bought a 24" iMac. My printer is an HP Office Jet Pro 9010 Series. I went to the HP site and found out that HP no longer provides software updates for that computer. I'll try Hamrick.com. If that doesn;t work, I guess my only option is to bit the bullet and buy a new printer. Thanks for your advice.

You should know what you paid over $1000 for, at least the display size and there is no reason to be rude. We get posters here all the time that say they got a new 27" iMac when it really turns out they got a "new to them" used 27" iMac which what I thought you had as you did not tell us the scanner you own and did not correctly identify your iMac.

To check to see if your scanner works with the version of Mac OS installed on the computer please go to the Scanner Mfg's web site and see if they support the version of Mac OS installed. If they do, update with their drivers.

If they no longer support it then go to Hamrick.com and download the free evaluation version of VueScan and see if your scanner is supported, there is a good chance it is. If it works, their software is reasonably priced.

No worries, hopefully Hamrick has a driver for your scanner. However if you find yourself in the market for a new device I am an ex HP worker (in the printer division) and when I was in the market for a new printer I opted to go with a Brother AIO which we had for about 8 years and it has performed flawlessly. Before that I used HP stuff when their quality was good, however that has diminished significantly over the years.
