I assume you are referring to Stolen Device Protection.

Go to iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple Account credentials.

Select your iPhone from the list of devices and select Erase this Device.

Now your iPhone has been fully erased. And if you intend on giving or selling it, you will also want to select Remove this Device. That will remove Activation Lock so the new owner can properly set it up for their own use.

This entire process should not require Face ID.
With SDP still enabled it will not leave the account for 30 days!

This entire process of removing the device from your account should turn off Find My and thus Stolen Device Protection. You can then turn Find My back on after and SDP will remain off.

It doesn't Remove SDP nor from the account immediately. See the various posts over thr last year about 30 days delay in removing from the account. You cannot get round that SDP built in delay unless you DFU it and set it up again. I've been there.

I see, that is the advice I offer when someone wants to turn off SDP but when Face ID is not working. That is also what Apple Support told me. Never knew about the delay. Thanks.

You say “not working” and “damage”. So, is Face ID not working properly? Or is there hardware damage?
