Re-opening windows on the screen I'm on?

Just a minor annoyance but hoping someone has an answer. I use one laptop with multiple screens (that is, internal monitors - not sure what the right term is) that I 4-finger swipe through. Whenever I minimize an app, it likes to stay with the screen / monitor I minimized it in. My issue is that sometimes I swipe to a different screen / monitor and want to reopen the app on that screen, but it always swipes me back to the monitor / screen I minimized it in. Is there a way to force applications that have been minimized to pop up on the screen / monitor I am currently on?

Thanks.

You're using Mission Control and Spaces. Spaces are virtual desktops. Your 4-finger swipe is moving you between those Spaces. Work in multiple spaces on Mac - Apple Support

Applications can be assigned to different spaces or to all spaces or none. This is key to making Spaces work best.

  • All Desktops: The app opens in every space.
  • This Desktop: The app opens only in the current space. If you use the app full screen, it appears in its own space.
  • None: The app opens in whichever space you’re using at the time.

In addition, in the System Settings... > Desktop & Dock you can refine certain other behaviors for apps in Mission Control. For example, there is one that, when switching to an application, will "switch to a Space with open windows for the application".

I believe you may want to assign your apps to All Desktops and perhaps disable the "switch to a Space with open windows. for the application".

You may wish to experiment with different settings to see what works best for the way you work.

I prefer to assign apps to a specific space and enable the switch to a Space with open windows. This flows well for me.

I never use minimize to say more.

alternatively:

Command H will hide an app if not in Full screen

Command Tab presents the HUD (heads up display) of running applications.... tab forward (~back) holding down on the tab key or use your mouse to select
