iPhone 15 overheat and battery drain issue

I have the basic iPhone 15. For the past 5 months it was working great, but today while I was using messenger and tiktok, it suddenly started overheating(the back of the phone) and my battery was draining very quickly. From 29% to 22 in like 7 minutes. I was feeling the lag while typing messages on messenger, it was like stopping for 2-3 secs and then showing what i typed. Then, once it reached 22%, i restarted my phone hoping the lag and overheat would fix. When i turned it on 1 minute later, it had gone to 18% from 22%. The phone was still hot and then i put it to charge, after charging to 80%( i have limited it to charge until 80%), it cooled down and wasn't hot and now I'm using it, it works perfectly well now but I'm worried. Should i be worried about what happened? Does that indicate that my device has an error? Anyone know why did that happen? It's the first time happening after 5 months and it seems weird. I can provide more details if needed.

It sounds like your iPhone 15 experienced a temporary issue, possibly due to a combination of factors like app usage, background processes, or even environmental conditions. Here's a breakdown of what might have caused it and what you can do.

Possible Causes

1. Resource-Intensive Apps

- Apps like TikTok and Messenger can be demanding on your phone's CPU and GPU, especially if they're running simultaneously or in the background.

2. Background Processes

- iOS might have been performing background tasks like indexing, syncing, or updating apps, which can temporarily increase heat and battery drain.

3. Software failure

- A temporary software issue could have caused the overheating and lag. Restarting your phone often resolves such issues.

4. Battery Health

- While your phone is relatively new, it's worth checking the battery health in Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging to ensure it's functioning optimally.

5. Environmental Factors

- High ambient temperatures or prolonged usage can contribute to overheating.

Should You Be Worried?

Since the issue resolved after charging and hasn't recurred, it was likely a one-time event. However, if it happens again or becomes frequent, it could indicate a deeper issue. In that case:

- Contact 👉 Official Apple Support .They can run diagnostics to check for hardware or software problems.

- Visit an Apple Store: If your device is under warranty, Apple can inspect and repair it if necessary.
