iPhone 15 Plus camera not storing photos in camera roll
My iPhone 15 Plus does not store any photos to the camera roll. When I take a photo, it looks as if the camera is taking the photo. If it is in low light, it even flashes when taking the photo. But when I go to my photos in my camera roll, it is not there. The camera also hangs for a few seconds if trying this twice in short succession.
When using other apps that use the camera, it works fine. E.g. I can take a photo directly from Whatsapp, and it will take the photo, and store it in my camera roll. I can take photos of receipts in Dext, and it stores the photo in the Dext database. I can take a screenshot, and the screenshot will be saved to the camera roll.
I have done several things to try to fix this:
- I have checked my storage -- I have more than half of my 256G still available.
- I have toggled saving to iCloud on and off.
- I have restarted my phone.
- I have done a full reset, erasing my phone totally and restored it from iCloud.
I then went to the iStore, and they erased the phone, and reinstalled it from scratch from one of their laptops with an image they have for this model phone. From what I understand, this means that by the time they were done, it was like it came from the factory. Before signing in with any iCloud ID or changing any settings, they tried to use the camera, and it still does exactly the same.
Eventually they told me that they are aware of this happening on some iPhone 15s after one of the recent iOS updates. According to them, the best I can do is to download a 3rd party camera app, and use that.
In the meanwhile, I should keep updating the further releases until one of them resolves this issue again.
I am now busy restoring my iCloud backup to get everything back on to my phone, and will then look for a 3rd party camera app that I can use until Apple sorts this out.
This is very very annoying.
