"MacBook Pro freezes for 30 seconds, goes black : Sometimes when I wake the MacBook Pro up and the screen is frozen. After about 30 seconds the screen goes black and then a message comes up, 'Your password is required to use Touch ID.' I don't use Touch ID, it doesn't work so I have all the options turned OFF in system settings. This condition only started happening a week and sometimes it doesn't freeze. "

When turning on your Mac, you have to enter your password. Logging in using your fingerprint will not work. This is a security feature of the macOS. So, that is why it is showing. So, just ignore the message.

So, Three Things...

A. Boot in Safe Mode:

Go Here: Start Up your Mac in Safe Mode - Apple Support. In Safe Mode, login items do not load at log in, certain System Settings are set aside, and damages system files (caches) are fixed.

B. Re-Mount the Drive:

Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon) . Then, using Disk Utility, see if the Hard Drive is seem. If it is, then see if you need to click the “Mount’ button for it. Try rebooting once more. If of no success, then click unmount button, and then the mount button. Try rebooting once more.

C. If Neither of the Above Works...

Reinstall the macOS:
