Camera bezel of iPhone 16 Pro Max raises phone off magsafe charger.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I also have a car with a built-in MagSafe charger. The camera bezel, however, will not allow the phone to lay flat enough to connect with the charger. Previous iPhone had similar problem, but not near as sever as the bezel was smaller. Previous phone would charge but would slide off magnet as it was not in full contact either. Is there anything that will extend the depth of the magnet on the phone to match the depth of the bezel, thus allowing the phone to lay flat?

I doubt you have a MagSafe charger in you car. I'd be willing to bet you have a Qi charging mat in your car. And you're right that many of them don't have the charging coil aligned well for iPhone's which are MagSafe charging capable. My previous car would not work with my phone in a case or not. My current car works if I place the phone in the right spot for charging to work. I'd suggest you put your phone in a good case which will have a minor lip above the camera bump surround, which will likely work better. That said, some car charging mats are just poorly made, with only one charging coil in the mat, which may not work with an iPhone. And that is on the car manufacturer for putting in a cheap charging mat. Since your car is modern enough to even have a Qi charging mat, it likely has a USB port which you can use to plug your phone in to charge, which may be the simplest solution for you.

Some cases will extend the MagSafe charging. The case have a cutout for the lenses, thus flattening the angle. Look at some really thick cases, maybe.

Have you talked to your dealer? They may have some ideas too. You can’t be the first person to ask about a solution.

The issue seems to be specific to specific models of vehicles. My wife and I have a Lexus and GMC Yukon XL and no issues with either model. In reading the various questions over the past 6 months I’ve the impression it’s a limited issue. Maybe they’re just resolved to using a cable.

You'll have to place something in there that will not get in the way of driving. So, perhaps a command hook some foam tape will do the job.

Thanks, but keeping it in place is not the issue. The camera bezel makes the raises the phone off the magnet as the phone sits at an angle. The contact points are the camera bezel and the bottom edge of the phone. Obviously, I can't decrease the depth of the camera bezel, so I need something magnetic to bridge the gap between the MagSafe and the phone, which would enable charging.

Huh? What on earth would a command hook do for someone trying to lay their phone on a charging mat in their car to get the phone to charge? I don't think you understood the question at all.
