Why is edit greyed out when I select a live photo on my Mac?

Hi

I have just received a photo taken with an Iphone. It's a "Live" photo. When I open my Photo app on my Mac Book Air M3 and double click on the photo, the edit button at the top right is greyed out and I can't do any kind of editing.

How can I solve this?

Regards Stig

Could you give us a bit more information?

  • How did you receive this "Live Photo?"
  • How was it imported into Photos?
  • What makes you think that it is a "Live Photo?"
  • Do you see this

in the upper left corner?

  • Does it move like a Live Photo?
  • Does this show up in Photos' Media Types>Live Photos?
  • Does this editing failure occur with other Live Photos, or just this one?
  • What do you see in the Info window-- how large is the file, for instance, and what camera was used?
