iPhone 13 mini 128GB iOS18.3.2 won’t backup saying not enough space.

iPhone 13 mini 128GB, iOS18.3.2 won’t backup saying not enough space. I have turned almost everything off from syncing to iCloud and it still says full. This began in November with iOS 17, I think. I have 29 apps, 70 songs, 47 short videos, 139 photos.

****The only thing going to iCloud now is passwords, contacts, reminders, calendar, phone& FT, clock, music, voice memos (11.2mb), and a 2FA app which I have recently downloaded so it is 2.7KB.

I currently only have the iPhone storage open, nothing else and it shows the

iOS 18.3.2 …. 11.37 GB and SYSTEM DATA …. 6.44GB.

Seriously, is the iOS THAT large? And I don’t understand the size of the system data when I don’t have anything else open and VERY few refreshing in the background.

Am I mistaken to think that the iOS should be small enough in size to backup to iCloud with 5GB. Isn’t that the purpose of the free 5GB?? Should I not be able to backup with the ****FEW things, I have checked to backup??

First of all iOS it self is NOT backed up to iCloud. Only your user data is. If a restore is need iOS is reinstalled from Apple servers and then your data from iCloud.

Second: iPhone->Settings->Apple Account (your picture)->iCloud->Storage and see how much of the 5GB is being used currently.

Third: Consider upgrading iCloud and pay for more iCloud storage. 50GB is 99¢ a month.

Fourth: If option 3 is not satisfactory to you consider backing your iPhone up to your computer instead of iCloud.
