Why can't the other person hear me during calls on my iPhone 15 with iOS 18.3.2?

After making or receiving a call, the person on the other end starts saying "Are you there? I can't hear you." I hear them just fine, but they can't hear me. Sometimes they can hear me again, but most of the time it lasts long enough that they say "I don't hear you, so I'm ending the call." I called Xfinity, and while I was talking with the agent, the problem occurred. Because of our discussion, he called me back, and another time I called him back. The problem is intermittent; sometimes I can be on a call for half an hour and nothing happens, while other times it happens almost immediately after making connection. I have iPhone 15, IOS 18.3.2.

Based on your description, the problem could stem from a few potential causes. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot:

1. Check Microphone Functionality:

  • Test your microphone by recording a voice memo or using a different app like FaceTime or Teams. If the microphone works fine in other apps, the issue might be specific to phone calls.

2. Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Ensure the microphone openings on your iPhone are clean and free of debris. Use a soft, dry brush to gently clean them if needed.

3. Disable Noise Cancellation:

  • Go to Settings ➡️ Accessibility ➡️ Audio/Visual and Set Phone Noise Cancellation to OFF. This feature can sometimes interfere with call audio.

4. Reset Network Settings:

  • Navigate to Settings ➡️ General ➡️ Transfer or Reset ➡️ Reset ➡️ Reset Network Settings. This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords but can resolve connectivity issues.

5. If that does not help, then contact 👉 Official Apple Support OR you can always get your iPhone examined at the Apple Store 👉 Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options or at an Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and evaluation.
