How do I update my iPhone 6?

You can update an iPhone 6 to the latest release of iOS 12 – currently iOS 12.5.7.

You cannot update an iPhone 6 to iOS 13 or higher. It lacks hardware found in all iPhones that can run more recent versions of iOS.

If you need or want to run apps that require something more recent than iOS 12 – as many do these days – it is time to purchase a new iPhone. Preferably one compatible with iOS 18 that is likely to have many years of updates ahead of it, such as an iPhone 15-series or 16-series phone.

Your iPhone 6 no longer receives the latest iOS software updates and cannot be updated past iOS 12.5.7.
