Apple airpods 2 static noise in one earphone

There is a static/cracling noise in my right ear, regardless of weather they are connected to something or not. I tried reseting them and have no idea what the cause is. I have them for over a year and haven't dropped them lately or done anything that could cause it. Anyone have any idea?

Static for others when using AirPods (2nd Gen) I’ve been getting consistent complaints any time I connect my AirPods with any device (MacBook, iPhone) that there is loud static. I don’t hear it but others do when on a call for work, FaceTime, etc. I’ve reset the AirPods and cleaned them and there still doesn’t seem to be any improvement. What can I do?
