photos keeps opening in separate desktop on imac

This is a huge problem because now I can no longer drag images from photos into upload portals for my website or really anything, which I do all the time. I cannot get it to go back to where I could use the browser and photos side by side again.

all my apps like safari and notes, and photoshop share the same window, and photos used to as well. Now when I click on the photos icon, every thing else disappears. This is a huge block to my work flow.

Do you see the red-yellow-green dots at the upper left of the screen in the Photos desktop? You might have to move the cursor up to the menu bar to see it.

Hover the cursor over the green dot and see if "Exit Full Screen" is offered; click it if offered.

Is Photos app configured to select a particular space?

Work in multiple spaces on Mac – Apple Support

It's also possible to drag app windows to different spaces directly to an adjacent space, or using Mission Control to provide a place to drag the app window to.

I seemed to resolve this by un clicking a feature in settings called Displays have Separate Spaces. Yay! Thanks for all your help!

I tried to figure out if photos was in a separate space, but I tried and to no avail. I can't figure this out.

I was able to navigate from photos to the menu bar at the bottom to get into another app, but that is so much harder than when they are side by side.

I was also just able to determine this is not a desktop issue. It all began after the very last update from apple I did a few days ago. so it must be a really cool new feature I don't want at the moment.
