Is back glass covered by the limited warranty?

I recently purchased an iphone 16 pro max and I have no idea how a tiny bit of its back glass from above the camera has broken. My question is: Will this hardware damage be repaired by apple free of cost under its warranty?

Under the normal AppleCare warranty? No, since accidental damage is not covered.

Under an optional AppleCare+ warranty? Yes, with a small deductible.....usually $29.

Of course, you must have purchased AppleCare+......before.....the phone was damaged.

I had another iphone and its screen once broke. I was able to get it replaced for free under its warranty without applecare+. That was accidental. Does that mean only accidental screen damages can get repaired for free?

Someone at Apple was being generous. Damaged screens and the back glass are NOT covered under the standard AppleCare plan at all. Do NOT expect Apple to cover this for you. You can see from this link that the cost to replace the back of your iPhone will cost (in the US) $199 --> iPhone Repair and Service - Apple Support
