How do I get a refund for NordVPN purchased through App Store?

I feel scammed both by NordVPN and Apple. I bought NordVPN which turned out to be useless for what I needed it, tried to request my money back as they offer a full refund within 30 days but I was told since I purchased my subscription through apple store, apple has it's own rules. Of course Apple is not giving me my money back. Anyone had similar situation and managed to get a refund?
