How do I download pictures from a Cannon 450D camera to an iMac?

I have bought an Apple iMac 24in desk top computer & I am trying to download pictures from my cannon 450D camera .it is pluged in & the camera switch on but the screen is blank

The best way is to use a card reader. They are inexpensive and you plug it Ito the Mac and out your card intuit.

Other than that, check the manual for your camera, see does it need to be In a.specific mode to interact witt the computer.
