MacBook Pro 16 2019 - Intel based - drains battery during sleep and even in the shutdown state

Hi folks, I'm coming with a problem which was discussed on variety of the topics on this forum.

Unfortunately, these topics were not discussed recently, so they are closed and I need to establish a new one.

My problem is battery drain of my MacBook Pro 2019, which started to be visible from Sonoma update. The MacBook drains about 5 to 10% of battery per 24 hours. What I did:

  1. Full erase of HDD and brand new system Sequoia 15.3.2. Everything from scratch.
  2. Removed the scheduled tasks and blocked ability to add new ones.
  3. Checked DarkWake and wake logs. The only wake was made by tcpkeepalive (RC.RTC and RC.ARPT).
  4. Changed tcpkeepalive to 0, no wake locks detected afterwards. Still, computer was draining batter even though it was in deep sleep for many hours (I have changed the setting to move to hibernation after 1800 seconds)
  5. So I decided to do some further tests and tested on a fully shutdown machine (did it with CapsLock LED turned on, to be sure that machine is fully turned off). It was, the LED was shutting down and never went back on again. I'm sure the computer was fully shut down.

And now to the point: The strangest thing is that the battery is STILL getting drained. In the last 48 hours it drained 10% even though the machine was absolutely shut down the LED from caps lock was always turned off. I also did a test with fully close the lid and the same thing happens about 10% drain for 48 hours.

Do you have any other clue what might be happening here and what further test could I do to avoid this? Literally, it means that within 20 days the laptop will drain the battery to zero even though it is shut down.

We all know it shouldn't work like that.

I also don't believe in the theory that the battery is so depleted that it drains itself automatically in such a short period of time. A base that statement on the 83% battery health reported by the system and the fact that the laptop is able to work on the battery for 8 to 10 hours. For me, it's a clear statement that the battery is still in a good condition. It has only 165 cycles. It can discharge itself a bit, but not 5 to 10% per day.

Any thoughts?

The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
