Locked out of iPhone

I have an iPhone 14 max and I was setting it up with a passcode only, no Face ID. After failing to log into the phone it says to get passcode help. But the only page I keep finding is resetting it with Face ID, which was never set up.

So how can I do a step by step reset without Face ID?

If you forgot your iPhone passcode or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
