i have forgotten my passcode for some reason my face id stopped working its locked me out for puttin in the wrong passcode to many times whats the best way to get back in

This is the way. It will wipe all data from your phone, but as long as you have a backup, either with iCloud or on a computer, you can use that to restore your data:

Face ID is not a replacement and there are many times the Passcode will still need to be required. You can view those conditions here:

Unfortunately, you are not going to get back in.
You will have to reset / erase the phone and then set it up again. You can use your backup from yesterday to restore the phone, so it will look like it did at the time that the backup was completed.
