Why is my iPhone charging to 100% despite the 85% limit setting?

I've noticed that my phone battery charges to 100% even though I have it set to charge only up to 85%. I was concerned about this until I read comments from others who are experiencing the same issue and the feedback they received. My question is, when will it return to charging to the 85% limit that I set?

Not an issue at all.

Any user who has set Charge Limits of any amount will still see the battery to charge to 100% occasionally according to Apple to help with accurate battery calibration.

Here is what Apple says in their battery support document:

The only real question here is how often might "occasionally" be. When I tried Charge Limits, I found that the battery charged to 100% 2 or even sometimes 3 times a month.

But some users report even more times a month some report much less.

Personally, I think Charge Limits are more a gimmick than anything else, but that might be another discussion.
