there are charges on my account that i do not recognize

i've recently realized that there are some charges on my account that i do not recognize. i noticed this and had my card shut down and changed. i tried tirelessly to get in contact with someone from apple but all the support options just brought me in a circle. my bank says an investigation will take 3 months. i added my new card to my account and now i'm having the same issue once more. there are sums of money taken from my account that i do not recognize and they're not reflected in my purchase history.

i currently do not have any active subscriptions because i cancelled everything just to make sure that wasn't it. i've also only made 2 apple purchases in this month. the filmhwa app and the genshin currency that didn't go through because i shut my card down.

i have no choice but to make a public post because i don't know how to get any help otherwise. i can't even remove my card from my account cause apple says i have active subscriptions so i'm kinda just stuck like this.

To me it looks like your card has been compromised. This happens when you use a physical card on a retail terminal that had a skimmer installed by a scammer to read your card details. They are most common at gas stations or ATM's where they can install them at night with very little interruptions. The scammers can make up any description of the charge and try to use ones that you would not dispute.

You said you don't have any subscriptions, but there are clearly 2 active subscriptions and that is the reason why you cannot remove your card. When you cancel a subscription, it only prevents it from being renewed and will remain active until the expiration date. You can call Apple and have them terminate the subscription earlier so you can remove your card. To be clear, since I believe your card has been compromised, you will continue to get those charges whether the card has been added to your account or not.

Your bank needs to do much more than just issue you a new card, they must block these charges from occurring. Your bank (actually VISA, Mastercard, etc) uses a Credit Card Updater to alert merchants of your new card information, which is why you see charges after the new card has been issued. Without your bank taking the action to block them, they will continue with a new card. A three month investigation is not acceptable.

oh wow. thank you so much for explaining in detail. i was wondering why i was still getting those charges despite never using this new card at any atm. and thank you for explaining the subscription bit to me as well. i was wondering since i cancelled both of them. i'll give my bank a call back but my main issue is that these charges that i don't recognize are categorized the same way as regular apple payments so it's hard to differentiate them. it almost seems like my card has been added to another apple account but i don't know who that could possibly be

I don't see the description of the charge for the legitimate $2.99 filmhwa charge on March 25 on your bank billing history since it is showing March 26th transactions to compare the description of the charge you see. If someone was able to capture your card details, it is still your bank that approves those charges. Apple does not get any information about the card holder from the bank to be able to approve/deny a purchase.
