Earpods USB-C randomly start playing loud static on PC

I have my Apple USB-C EarPods plugged into my laptop and sometimes when I am listening to music or watching videos, it will be working fine for a few minutes and then abruptly start playing a loud static noise. It's very startling and annoying. The noise doesn't stop until I unplug the headphones and plug them back in, after which I can listen fine again for a few minutes and then it sometimes starts again.

The time it takes is completely random - sometimes I can listen for hours without interruption, sometimes it happens after a minute or two.

I tried updating all my drivers and everything but it keeps happening.

The EarPods are brand new, I just bought them a week ago. They work just fine on my iPhone 15 with no weird static noises.

* Windows 11 (latest)
