Brand new airpods pro 2 has loud static sound in left ear

My brand new AirPods Pro 2 (literally right out of the box) has a loud static sound in the left ear. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, but nothing seems to work. It stops when I turn off the noise cancellation, but that’s a feature I want. Any ideas?

if you bought DIRECT from Apple, not from a Reseller of any description, you have a strict 14 days form receipt to return your Apple products for full-value refund or exchange.
