I'm sorry but I'm having trouble identifying the model of your iPod S. Is that the iPod Shuffle? If yes, that model is very old. It does not support Bluetooth so the AirPods will not work with it. When I owned a shuffle, I used Apple's wired EarPods, such as the ones linked below.
These connect via a 3.5 mm plug.
