iPhone 15 battery drain and heat issue

Hello. I have been owning a base model iPhone 15 for 5 months. Everything was okay all that time except the last week which it has been overheating almost every day and it loses battery quickly during the overheat. What i have noticed is that the overheating issue happens when the battery is around 30-40 percent, that's when it starts.

1) I'm not in a hot place or somewhere with sun, so it's not that causing the overheat.

2) I have disabled background activity

3) When it happens I'm using messenger and tiktok.

4) Im using ios 17.5.1 but again i don't think that my iOS version is the problem since i have my phone for 5 months and only the last week it's overheating

iPhone 15, iOS 17

So, if my math is correct, your battery is being consumed by 4 non-Apple apps. Make sure you keep the apps updated, keep your iPhone on at night and charging at night. This will allow apps to update at night rather than during the day and depleting your battery. I would contact the support teams for each app and report your dissatisfaction with their product.

In the Apple App Store go to the What’s New and you’ll see version numbers so you can check. Usually it just says bug fixes, repairs, enhancements and such. Here’s Messengers latest. That’s at least 6 updates in last 4 weeks. Every single update says fixes crashes. Why does every update crash?

So, what app is running? iPhones just don’t heat up because they feel like it. Camera and video applications can cause processors and GPU’s to use high performance chips. Watching HDR content on Apps like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram cause screen brightness to increase dramatically and high bit depth of source files cause a lot of heat.

The average battery summary for the last 10 days is:

Messenger(it says notifications) 36%

TikTok 25%

Instagram 21%

YouTube 11%

The rest are very very low

Btw my screen brightness doesn't go up like you mentioned, because i have auto brightness off and i have set my brightness fairly low

Well i will update them all. My auto update on app store, even though it's enabled, it hasn't worked not even once since I bought my phone.(5 months). Contacting them would not really help me i think. I have a question. Do you know if i can somewhere check the update logs history of an app for example Messenger and see what was fixed on each update? Maybe for example the version that i have of messenger has a bug with battery drain?

I believe they never update the description of every update there. for every app I've checked, all updates have the same description.

Btw if an app is bugged, it might not always report correct results right? I mean if let's say whatsapp is the battery drainage app and if it's due to a bug, it might not show in battery settings that it's whatsapp that drains the battery.
