Did someone have my password to attempt to access my account?

I received a notification someone was attempting to sign in on a device not recognized from a location not recognized. I was able to reject the attempt because ot the two-factor authorization. My question is , did they have my password? If yes, how did they get it? I have not shared the password with anyone. We just returned from a trip where my Ipad was left in the room. Could someone have accessed my I cloud account and found the password?

Was your iPad locked and 2FA enabled?

If you reuse passwords for multiple accounts then a merchant hack discloses your password and possibly more. Bank and credit card company hacks can disclose lots of personal information. So media too, is a problem. Those little quizzes asking favorite colors, where you were born, favorite food etc. are used to learn the answers to security questions that protect your accounts.
