Perhaps you have Face ID setup and it is unlocking with your face? Try covering your face or the front camera and swipe up once more.
I switched off Face ID which I didn’t realise that I had
Works ok now with passcode

I don’t use face ID
In settings it’s asks for passcode immediately but just opens when I swipe up
